Bouncing Baby Boy Shower Dress

A few weeks ago, a bunch of my family and friends came together to celebrate the impending arrival of our baby boy.  I had definitely wanted to make a dress for the occasion, and the first pattern I eyed was the delightful French pattern, 13H by Deuxieme Arrondissement.

However, my energy had been waning, so I put it off.  Plus, with my limited preggo brain capacity at the moment, I was a bit daunted by the prospect of using a sewing pattern written in French.  And weirdly, there is no size chart listed for their patterns, which then made me a bit concerned about which size to make, or whether the pattern would come big enough at all (I’d gained quite a bit in the last (at that point) 7.5ish months…).

The Cropped Muumuu

OMG you guys…I finished another top!  OK, it’s not really OMG worthy, but it is kind of funny to me since it’s a silhouette I wouldn’t have given a second glance without a squirrel in the oven (hey, that’s what it feels like these days).  Meet McCall’s 7125:

Quilting, Sewing

The Teeny Tiny Quilt

Someone very special is turning three this week: my niece! You’ve seen her before in her flower girl dress from our wedding, and here she is again:

What do you get for a little gal who already has tons of toys? Turns out, she’s been asking for a baby doll cradle. Guess who has one from her own childhood? Aunt Jessie! Sure, it’s a little worn, but that wear is love.

I’ll be honest, I did not make this dress for our wedding rehearsal.  I intended to make a dress, but ran out of time.  I am nothing if not a procrastinator.

Summer’s Last Hurrah: The Centauree

Here it is, my last Summery make…Deer & Doe’s Centauree!  I picked this pattern up at Lil’ Weasel in Paris on our honeymoon.

Deer & Doe CentaureeIt’s been nice knowing you, Summer, even if you weren’t very like yourself this year.  Not nearly as hot as you usually are.  We all get a little out of sorts sometimes.  I get it.

I made this dress in September, when I was supposed to be selflessly sewing for others.  I think the whole Fashion Challenge 2 kind of messed with my selfless plans and the me me me monster reared its ugly head again.

I had my reasons, though.  This was a good one:  I needed something to wear to my parents’ 40th anniversary party.  That’s right, folks, they’ve been married for FORTY YEARS.
