Ribbon Box Crib Quilt

One of the things I knew for sure I wanted to make for Ms. Baby was a quilt.  I’m a quilting super beginner, but have a couple of awesome super quilter family members to ask advice of, which is great.

I looked and looked and couldn’t find a quilt pattern that really spoke to me…that is, until Nakisha told me she was going to make Cloud 9 Fabrics’s Ribbon Box Quilt.  I loved it and immediately made plans to copy her.  :P  I mean, imitation is the purest form of flattery, right?

Here it is…

It’s July! Summer Updates

I’ve been gone for a spell; ah, the ebb and flow which is my blogging.  I’m either on it and posting every week, or *poof* gone.  Well, we’ve been a bit busy since I last posted in June!

So, what’s up, Buttercup?

After three months of looking for a new house, we put in our fourth offer and it finally stuck!  FINALLY!  I’d say I’m probably most excited about this at the moment…

Amidst this craziness, I was lucky enough to be able to attend PR Weekend and got to meet and room with the delightful Meigan of Get My Stitch On.  <3

UFO Quilt Update #2

Lord almighty, it’s been quite the couple of weeks.  I’m really glad I went hard and heavy working on the Christmas quilt earlier this month, because without my nose to the grindstone there would have been no hope of finishing by the UFO contest’s February 4th deadline.

Here’s what it looked like last time I updated.

And here’s the backing I chose!  I loved the poinsettia option, but it was just too pricey for my cheap ass.

So, what’s happened with the quilt, and life, in the last two weeks?  If you have a weak stomach, proceed with caution.  You have been warned.

UFO Quilt Update

We’ve been having quite the weather here the last couple of days.  Rain, rain and more rain…with daytime temperatures hovering around freezing (and dipping below at night).  I’ve managed to make it in to work every day so far, but I had Midwestern Interesting* parts of my commute each day with slippery stretches of road.  Snow?  Expected here in the Winter.  Ice?  A bit more of a problem.  But, it’s been manageable.

Anywho enough about the weather:  just wanted to share updates on some projects and a couple of plans!

My Pattern Review UFO contest entry (in progress review here), the Christmas quilt I started in 2012, is coming along well.  There’s still a chance I could get it done by the February 4th deadline.
