Easter Best

Momentum is a funny thing; sometimes you’re on a roll and then…BAM!  Stopped.  Stuck in the mud.  Or your head.  Or whatever.  I swear I posted a week or two ago last, but it has been almost THREE!  Such a lollygagger.  I haven’t gotten a ton of sewing done in that time, but I still have many garments to photograph and blog from February and March plus some oldies for Throwback Thursday.

That said, life has been a little busy, and I’ll use that as my excuse.  We’re currently looking for a bigger home and readying our own house for sale.  The real estate market here (and many places, per the many nationwide articles I’ve read) is pretty much insane at the moment:  so little inventory, such high prices, very much a seller’s market.  It’ll bode well when it comes time for us to sell our sweet little starter home, but this end is just a tad frustrating.  We’ve been looking since late February and we are persisting because quickly selling our home is very attractive with a toddler around.

Speaking of a toddlers, I managed to make Cheeks some stuff for Easter.  :D  All three pieces are part of McCall’s 6873.

Throwback Thursday: Cameo Bits and Bobs

It’s Throwback Thursday!  Wheeeeee!  This is really more of a compilation post than a throwback, but all of these projects are at least three months old.  Also:  here’s where the “sometimes” comes into my blog name!  Ha.

So, I bought a Silhouette Cameo sometime around Black Friday in 2015…and then I let it sit in the box for the next three or so months because I was “scared” of it.  Story of my life with every new fun crafty machine (took me so long to crack the coverstitch machine out, too).

I finally got over that and am finally to a place where I have a bunch of fun projects to share…from super frivolous to very practical!

My first project was cut from a file I bought from the Silhouette Design Store; a Valentine’s Day card for my hubby in 2016, from red cardstock and red rose patterned paper.  I forgot to ask him to find it for me until last night (oops), so here’s a stock image from the the Design Store instead.

Disappointment in Tunic form (plus leggings)

I’ve been gravitating in a different direction style-wise for a while now.  I can’t put my finger on the impetus, baby is certainly a factor, but I have begun to go bonkers over the Tilton Sisters and what I think of as art-teacher-chic.  My birthday dress was one of theirs, and when I saw Vogue 8817 I had to have it.

It wasn’t a new release, just one that hadn’t caught my eye before.  The colorblocking…the flowing silhouette, the opportunity to really play with fabric:  YES. Continue reading “Disappointment in Tunic form (plus leggings)”

Throwback Thursday: Jasper Surprise!

Welcome to Throwback Thursday! Today we’re talking sweater dress with a surprise:

Pattern:  Paprika Patterns’ Jasper, which I was lucky enough to obtain from a Perfect Pattern Parcel.  (Remember those?  So awesome!  I still regret not buying the boys one…it had the Knight Hoodie in it!  Alas, I did not know I’d have a boy then…)

Completed:  January 2016 (I only remember this because I got it done the day before, maybe day of, my cousin’s baby shower!)

I decided not to wear makeup (OK, fine, I put a little lip gloss on…) for this blog post, but I did brush my hair.  :P  I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis, so I find the prettifying process the biggest hindrance I face (ha!) when it comes to actually getting photos of my makes taken.  I decided to not give a f*ck for today’s post!  :)  Shout out to breastfeeding for the nice skin.  I’m scared to quit you.

More Coppelia

So, I shared the bride’s beautiful Wedding Coppelia with you last week, and now here’s one I made for myself!

IMG_4617

This is actually my third Papercut Patterns Coppelia.  The first was a fitting muslin of sorts for myself to be sure that the wedding version would fit my sister in law’s proportions (ensuring that the amount of negative ease I was planning on would translate well:  and it did!)
