Ma’s Birthday Gift

So, my mom’s birthday was almost a month ago.  I originally gifted her this bag in pieces in a ziplock bag, which she was not surprised at all about:  this has been a demi tradition of mine.  Sometimes DIY doesn’t go as fast as you hope it will.

But, I finally finished it a couple of weeks ago!  It’s the Blue Calla Patterns Iris Convertible Shoulder Bag:

I’ve also submitted it to Pattern Review’s Handbag contest, and voting begins today.  If you like my bag, I would really appreciate your vote!

Throwback Thursday: Wedding Wrap Bliss

Welcome to a very special Throwback Thursday!

Today we are celebrating the 6 month anniversary of my sis in law, Liz, and her beloved J.

Last Autumn they were married before their closest loved ones in an idyllic outdoor ceremony, followed by a lively and lovely winery reception the next day.

Big thanks to Dahli of Dahli.Durley Photography for permission to use her beautiful images of the wedding day.  All photos except those with an asterisk (*) are Dahli’s talented handiwork.

The Sentimental Snowdrop

Hey there!  Apparently I’m on the every-two-months blogging schedule…which is kind of funny because I’ve been more productive in the last two or three months than I have been in the previous year.  What a backlog of makes I have for you guys (if I ever get around to photographing them).

Anywho, here we are on the day before Christmas Eve, and I do have one thing to show you!  It’s a very special Christmas gift that I whipped up for a person dear to me:  Blue Calla Patterns’ Snowdrop Satchel.

Blue Calla Snowdrop

Time is at a premium these days, so this is one of only four things I sewed for Christmas this year (two of the others are only sort of gifts, and one is just a shirt I whipped up for Cheeks).

To tell you the true significance of this bag, I’d have to go back a couple of years.  Or was it three?  Continue reading “The Sentimental Snowdrop”

Knitting

Percy

I alluded to Percy last month, and here he is:

Percy Shawlette

I made this Percy Shawlette, designed by Sanne Kalkman, out of a hank of yarn given to me by my coworker at our company Secret Santa exchange last year. I more than suspect that his crocheter/spinner wife may have had something to do with that. ;)  I would tell you which yarn it is, but I seem to have misplaced (AKA thrown away) the tag.  I can tell you that it’s very soft, and while it’s labeled as lace weight, I would call it a light fingering weight yarn.
